How to Sync an Unsupported User Profile Attributes for Office 365 Provisioning

Overview

Each Provisioning type has a list of supported attributes that can be mapped from Okta into the Office 365 instance. 

 

This article explains how to sync unsupported user profile attributes, such as EmployeeType and EmployeeID for Office 365 to Okta.

Solution

The unsupported attribute <employeeID> can be mapped to a different supported O365 attribute, for example, <ExtensionAttribute1>.

 

Here is a configuration sample:

  1. Add a Custom attribute to the Okta profile to map AD to Okta.
    1. Navigate to Profile Editor > User(default) > Add Attribute.
    2. This sample's attribute is <FromADemployeeID>

Sample Attribute

  1. Map the AD attribute to the added Okta attribute. 
    1. Navigate to Profile Editor > Active Directory > Mappings > AD to Okta.

  1. Map the Okta attribute to the Office 365-supported attribute. 
    1. Navigate to Profile Editor > Office 365 > Mappings > Okta User to Microsoft Office 365.
