Single Sign-On
Overview
This article explains how to retrieve the Certificate Fingerprint when trying to integrate a custom SAML Service Provider with Okta, and the Service Provider requires the certificate fingerprint instead of the certificate itself.
Applies To
  •  Certificate Fingerprint
  •  Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML)
Solution

Please follow the video or the steps below:

  1. Add the integration in Okta.
  2. Go to Applications > Applications > Select the application.
  3. Click on the Sign-On tab.
  4. Click on the View SAML Setup Instructions button, which will open a new browser tab > Scroll down until "X.505 Certificate" > Copy the text in a text file and save it as a .crt extension.
  5. Open the newly created file and go to the Details page. Scroll down until Thumbprint is reached and find the fingerprint value there.

NOTE: The fingerprint is encoded using the same algorithm as shown in the above field "Signature has algorithm".
