Create a Request Type to Call an Okta Workflow for Self Service Review
Last Updated:
Overview
Administrators can use Okta Identity Governance (OIG) Request Types to call an Okta Workflow that creates an Access Certification Campaign. Creating a specific request type and linking it to an existing workflow allows users to initiate self-service access reviews. This configuration requires administrative rights to create Access Requests, Access Certifications, and Okta Workflows.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Okta Access Requests
- Okta Access Certifications
- Okta Workflows
- Okta Identity Governance (OIG)
Solution
How is a request type created to call a workflow for self-service review?
Create a new request type in the Okta Admin Console and configure it to run a self-service review workflow by following these steps.
- Go to the Okta Admin Console.
- Go to Governance > Access Requests.
- Select the Settings menu and select the Resources sub-menu.
- Select the Workflows option on the screen to view all workflows synced with Access Requests. Ensure the Self Service Workflow is visible. If not, follow the steps in Employee / Self Service Campaigns via Workflow on how to create the workflow. If it already exists, ensure it is enabled and select Update now. Refresh the page to locate the workflow.
- Select the Access Requests menu on the left side of the page to create the Access Request.
- Select Create request type and enter a Name and Description. Select the Team associated with this request, select the Audience, and then select Continue.
- Select Add to request type to the right of the question to add it to the request type.
- In the text box under Question, enter
Self Review Reason?. - Select the Type box and change it from Text to Dropdown. Select Add option and enter
No longer needs access to resources. Press the Enter key to start a second entry and enterWant to review existing access. - Select the Action button at the bottom of the screen and select Run a workflow. In the text box, type
Run Self Review Workflow. In the Select the workflow box, select the dropdown menu and locate the already built workflow. In this example, the workflow is called Self Review Campaign Workflow. - Select the pencil icon next to the name of the Request Type and enable the Mark as done automatically? option.
- Select Continue and then select Publish. The request type is now ready to run.
