Administrators occasionally terminate an active user session for security or troubleshooting purposes. Clear an active user session directly from the user profile page in the Okta Admin Console.

What are the steps to clear an Okta user session?
Navigate to the user profile in the Okta Admin Console and select the option to clear the user sessions.
- Sign in to the Admin Console.
- Go to Directory > People.
- Search for the user.
- Select the user link to open the user profile page.
- On the user profile page, select More Actions.
NOTE: This button does not appear if the currently authenticated account matches the open user profile page. - Choose Clear User Sessions.

- The clear user session option is available only to active users. Users in a password reset state or users with recently reactivated accounts do not have the option to clear user sessions.
- In Okta Classic Engine, the Clear User Sessions action clears the main sign-in session, but Okta retains the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) cookie because the Keep me signed in feature functions separately.
