How to Update the Email in Okta Org

Overview

This article will explain how to update the email in an Okta Org.

Solution

To update the email address:

  1. Log in to the Admin Dashboard.
  2. Select the User.
  3. Choose the Profile tab.
  4. Update the email address and press Save.
NOTE: When utilizing the App to Okta attribute mappings for email, update the email in the system where the email is the source of truth. 



Admins can navigate to the email attribute configured for their Okta User Profile and confirm its source of truth. In the screenshot below, the email attribute is sourced by Active Directory (as it is configured as the number one source priority).

Primary Email


Once the source is confirmed, navigate to Directory > Profile Editor, search for the source of the attribute, and select the Mappings dropdown to choose the appropriate User Profile mappings.

Users


Select the appropriate Application to Okta tab and then review the email attribute. Admins can preview a user to see what is being passed into Okta from the attribute’s source.
