Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Okta Integration Network
Overview

This article discusses the cause and potential steps to resolve the following Grammarly error:

'error':'institution_users_number_under_limit’

Applies To
  • Okta Integration Network (OIN)
  • Grammarly
  • Provisioning
Cause

This error typically occurs when the organization's Grammarly Education/Business plan reaches its licensed-user cap, preventing new members from joining or using features until someone leaves or the admin upgrades the plan.

Solution

The institution_users_number_under_limit error indicates that the organization's Grammarly subscription has reached its maximum number of users. To resolve, verify license availability and either clear the required licenses or request a license limit increase in Grammarly.

Since this is not an Okta-side configuration or provisioning issue and the failure is returned directly from Grammarly’s system, Okta recommends contacting Grammarly Support for further assistance.
