Google Workspace - "This Domain is not configured to use Single Sign-On"
Single Sign-On
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

While setting up the Google Workspace application from the Okta Integration Network (OIN), testing leads to the following error message:

This Domain is not configured to use Single Sign-On

Applies To
  • Google WorkSpace
  • OIN Application
  • Single Sign-On (SSO)
  • Secure Assertion Markup Language (SAML)
Cause

According to Google's Troubleshoot single sign-on (SSO), the aforementioned error message indicates that Single Sign-On (SSO) is trying to be used with G Suite's Standard (Free) Edition, which does not support the use of SSO.

Solution

Ensure that the Standard (Free) Edition of G Suite is not being used.

Check to see if a value is present for the RPID section under Advanced Sign-On Settings in the Sign On tab on the Okta side.

  • This value is pulled from the SP details for the SSO Profile created on the Google side for the Okta IdP configuration.
  • SP details: Copy the rpid query parameter value and set it to the value of the RPID field on the Sign On of the app instance in Okta.

In the example image below, the rpid is similar to 03g*********:

    google-ripd

Here is another sample where the rpid value is after https://accounts.google.com/samlrp/. In the example below the rpid value is 03znu**********.

If the same error message persists after confirming the RPID value on the Okta side, please contact Okta Support.
