An Okta Admin user noticed the failed app deprovisioning task during Google Workspace app user unassignment. The error is as below:
Error: Auto License un-assignment is not allowed
- Google Workspace App Deprovisioning
- Okta Integration Network
This error is reported by Google Workspace API directly because having the Google Auto-Licensing enabled in Google Workspace will interfere with Okta's ability to manage G Suite licenses from Google Workspace API during Okta app provisioning/de-provisioning tasks.
Please work with the Google Workspace admin user to review whether Google Auto-Licensing is enabled on the Google Workspace platform. If so, please try disabling that. See Google's documentation on this setting below.
- Turn off automatic Google Workspace licensing during setup
- Set automatic licensing for organizational unit
Having the Google Auto-Licensing enabled interferes with Okta's ability to manage G Suite licenses from API during provisioning/deprovisioning task.
Please ensure the affected user does not inherit the license from two places, such as the group and OU levels.
Please contact the Google Support Team for further assistance for more information on how to disable Google Workspace Auto-Licensing configuration.
Once the Google Workspace Admin user confirms that the Google Workspace Auto-licensing feature is disabled, please retry the failed app provisioning/deprovisioning task from the Okta Admin > Dashboard > Tasks page.
