When attempting to add a new account in the native Gmail mobile application, the Sign in with Okta FastPass button is unavailable.
- Okta Verify FastPass
- Google Native Apps
- Android OS
Sign-in with Okta FastPass is not supported in WebView on native Android apps. While the Sign in with Okta FastPass button may be missing, this does not mean that Fastpass cannot be implemented for authentication within native Android apps. If the Okta Verify app is not running in the background already, Okta cannot probe for device context, and the user may be denied access depending on the app sign-on policy.
In this scenario, to workaround the issue of the missing Sign in with Okta FastPass option, Okta recommends:
- Ensure the Android Okta Verify app is launched or running before logging in to the native Google applications. This way, the Okta Sign-In Widget can probe for device context, communicate with Okta Verify, and complete a FastPass Authentication.
- If Okta Verify is running on the phone already:
- Enable notifications for Okta Verify in the device's settings app.
- Ensure the App battery usage for Okta Verify is not set to Restricted within the device's settings app.
- Add Okta Verify to the list of apps that never turn off or go to sleep in the background.
- If Okta Verify cannot be added to the Never Sleeping apps list, or it is already, and the issue persists, disable the parent setting Put unused apps to sleep.
- If Okta Verify is running on the phone already:
Alternatively, utilize another Authentication method, such as Okta Verify Push or a One-Time Password code.
