The Office integration available in the Okta Integration Network (OIN) can be imported into Okta users and groups. The Import Groups option must be checked to import the groups as well.
If one or multiple Office groups have an application assigned to them, the group deletion process will fail with the following error:
Import groups cannot be disabled because there are 1 group assignments for the groups of this app instance
- Office 365 (and any other applications during app provisioning integration save)
- Okta Integration Network (OIN)
- Import
- Groups
To remove the already imported Office groups, the Import Group option must be unchecked, and an import must be done. If one or multiple Office groups have an application assigned to them, the group deletion process will fail with the above error.
The only way of resolving this problem is to check the Application tab of each Office group and check if there are any apps present. If any apps are displayed, they need to be removed to remove the group from Okta.
If no applications are visible for any of the existing groups, that means that one or multiple Office groups had an application assigned, and later, the application was deactivated. A deactivated application previously assigned through a group will remain tied to the group until deleted.
To resolve this, go to Applications, check the Inactive section, and delete the deactivated app.
