Due to Microsoft ending support for Windows 10 in October 2025, Okta will stop releasing updates and security fixes for the 32-bit Okta Verify installer starting on March 31, 2026. Customers with 32-bit devices will no longer receive security patches or auto-updates for Okta Verify, increasing their risk profile. Therefore, customers must retire or upgrade their 32-bit Windows devices to 64-bit operating systems to ensure continued security and support.
Impact Dates:
- March 31, 2026: Window OV 6.8 - auto-update will be limited on 32-bit devices
- April 28, 2026: Windows OV 6.9 - installation of OV on new 32-bit devices will be blocked
- May 26, 2026: Windows OV 6.10 - all installations will be blocked
-
Customers who have at least one 32-bit Windows device
Effective March 31, 2026, Okta will stop releasing updates and security fixes for the 32-bit version of the Okta Verify for Windows installer.
- The installer will no longer include a 32-bit build.
- Auto-updates for 32-bit devices will cease.
This change is primarily driven by Microsoft's announced End-of-Support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025. As Microsoft will no longer provide security patches for the underlying operating system, continuing to build and support the 32-bit installer is no longer tenable for maintaining a strong security posture.
This decision also allows us to focus our development resources on the 64-bit installer, which serves the vast majority of our user base.
While Okta Verify will continue to function on existing 32-bit devices, those devices will become increasingly vulnerable:
- No Security Patches: These devices will not receive any future security fixes from Okta for Okta Verify.
- No New Features: These devices will not receive new product features or general updates.
- Vulnerability Risk: Any newly discovered bug or security vulnerability will not be addressed by Okta.
Required Actions
We strongly urge customers to retire or upgrade all 32-bit Windows devices in their fleet to 64-bit operating systems as soon as they are able, as Microsoft no longer supports Windows 10.
Please note that even if extended support for Windows 10 from Microsoft has been purchased, this will not enable us to extend support for the 32-bit Okta Verify for Windows installer.
