Okta "Don't Close the Browser Yet" Message Appears During Application Logout
Last Updated:
Overview
The "Don't close the browser yet" interstitial page appears during the sign-out process because the Front-channel Single Logout (SLO) feature is enabled. Administrators can resolve this by disabling the feature in the Okta Admin Console. When users log out from an application, the following message appears on an interstitial page:
Don't close the browser yet
Signing you out
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- SDKs and Libraries
- Front-channel Single Logout (SLO)
Cause
The interstitial page is a component of the Front-channel Single Logout (SLO) feature. This page ensures that the browser remains open long enough to process sign-out requests for all integrated applications in the session.
Solution
What steps are needed to disable the interstitial page during logout?
Disable the self-service Early Access (EA) Front-channel Single Logout feature in the Okta Admin Console to remove the interstitial page.
-
Sign in to the Okta Admin Console.
-
Go to Settings > Features.
-
Locate Front-channel Single Logout.
-
Toggle the feature to disabled.
NOTE: Whether to enable or disable this feature depends on the organization's specific requirements for Single Logout (SLO).
