Okta Verify for Windows AutoUpdate Deferred Time Reset Behavior When a Newer Okta Verify Version Becomes Available
Multi-Factor Authentication
Okta Identity Engine
Overview

This article clarifies whether the Okta Verify for Windows AutoUpdate deferred time gets reset when a newer Okta Verify (OV) version becomes available. It also details how to check the associated Okta Org for Okta Verify auto-updates.

Applies To
  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Verify for Windows - AutoUpdate
  • Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Solution
  • The deferred update timer for Windows Okta Verify AutoUpdate starts after it finds that a newer version is available. After the timer stops, it downloads the latest available version of Okta Verify. If the latest Windows Okta Verify version changed during that window, it does not matter; it will download the currently available version once the timer ends.
  • When set, Windows Okta Verify will use the SignInURL Org account for auto-update. Check the value from the Windows registry: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Okta\Okta Verify > SignInUrl.
