Okta Desktop MFA Error Occurs Stating "This feature isn't enabled"
Last Updated:
Overview
The Desktop Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) application fails to add because the account lacks the Interaction Code setting or an active Device Access Stock Keeping Unit (SKU). Resolving this involves enabling the Interaction Code in the account settings or contacting the Account Manager to activate the required SKU. When attempting to add the Desktop MFA application after receiving confirmation of the feature activation, Okta generates the following error:
This feature isn't enabled.
Please contact your administrator to have this feature enabled.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Device Access
- Desktop Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Cause
The account configuration lacks the Interaction Code selection, or the organization lacks an active Device Access SKU.
Solution
How is the Desktop MFA feature enabled?
Navigate to the account settings to activate the embedded widget sign-in support and enable the Interaction Code.
- Navigate to Admin Dashboard > Settings > Account > Embedded widget.
- Select the Interaction Code checkbox.
If the Interaction Code option is unavailable, the organization lacks an active Device Access SKU. Contact the designated Account Manager for further details on enabling this SKU.
NOTE: Okta Identity Engine (OIE) exclusively supports Desktop MFA.
