This article covers attribute creation and configuration in Okta for an application that does not support Schema Discovery.
- Application Profile
- Okta Integration Network (OIN)
- Applications Without Schema Discovery
From the left side menu on the Okta Admin Console, go to Directory > Profile Editor. Locate the application profile by searching using the application's name, then select the name of the profile and click on the Add Attribute button:
- For applications that support Schema Discovery, clicking the Add Attribute button will open up a list of attributes that can be added to the profile by selecting them and then saving them. For more details, see What is Schema Discovery and How to Use It.
- For applications that do not support Schema Discovery, an attribute creation window will open where the information for the new attribute needs to be introduced (see image below).
Main attribute fields:
- "Data type" - represents the type of data this attribute holds on the application end.
- "Display name" - the desired name that the attribute should have in Okta on the application's attribute profile.
- "Variable name" - the desired variable name that the attribute should have in Okta (not the external application) on the application's attribute profile.
- "External name" - the variable name from the external application.
- "External namespace" - the namespace from the external application.
NOTE: The "External name" and "External Namespace" are obtained from the external application. If uncertain of what these values should be, please reach out to the external application provider.
