Configure SCIM for a Custom OIDC App

Overview

This article addresses whether configuring SCIM with a custom OpenID Connect (OIDC) app integration is possible.

Applies To

  • System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM) 
  • Custom OpenID Connect (OIDC) Application
  • Okta App Integration Wizard (AIW)

Cause

To leverage OIDC and SCIM when integrating with a Service Provider that supports these capabilities but does not yet have an existing app integration in the Okta Integration Network (OIN).

Solution

Enabling SCIM provisioning with a custom OpenID Connect (OIDC) integration is not currently supported.
  • If Admins have confirmed that the provider supports both features, they can create two separate app integrations: one for the OIDC configuration and the other for the SCIM configuration. The SSO portion of the provisioning-only app should not need to be functional as long as both integrations are configured appropriately.
