Okta Workflows can verify the health of the connection to the Okta organization by executing a scheduled flow that runs a simple Okta action card inside an error-handling condition. If the connection fails, the workflow notifies an administrator.

Solution

How does an administrator check the Okta connection health using Okta Workflows?

Create a scheduled flow, configure an error-handling condition with a read action, and set up an email notification to alert an administrator if the connection fails.

  1. Create a new workflow, initiate it using the Scheduled Flow card, and set the desired interval to a minimum of five minutes.
  2. Add an If Error card and add the Okta Read User card in the Try section.
Workflows
  1. Enter a known good user ID in the ID or Login field.
  2. Add a notification card, such as the Send Email card, in the If Error dropdown to notify an administrator in the event of an issue.
