Overview

This article clarifies whether log streaming can be automatically reactivated and details how to trigger notifications for deactivation events.

Applies To

  • Log Streaming
  • Event Hooks

Solution

Automatic reactivation of log streaming is not supported. To request this functionality, submit a feature enhancement request on Okta Ideas. For more information on the Ideas program, refer to the Okta Ideas Overview FAQ.

As a workaround, configure an Okta Event Hook to trigger an email alert notification when log streaming stops.

  1. Configure an Event Hook to trigger when the system log event system.log_stream.lifecycle.deactivate occurs.

  2. Configure the Event Hook to send a notification to the external endpoint.

  3. Use the endpoint to generate an email or other alert.

NOTE:

  • For guidance on setting up Event Hooks, refer to Event Hooks.
  • For a list of event types, refer to Event Types.
