Overview

Okta Verify spins indefinitely or fails when attempting to use the Import account option on Android 16 within a managed work profile. This occurs due to an Android operating system limitation regarding Bluetooth permissions. To resolve this, upgrade to Android 17 or higher, or temporarily install Okta Verify in the personal profile to complete the setup.

Cause

An Android operating system limitation regarding Bluetooth permissions for applications within a managed work profile causes this behavior. Google tracks this issue in the Google Issue Tracker as Issue 438364199.

Solution

How is the indefinite spinning issue resolved in Okta Verify on Android 16?

Android 17 and later versions resolve this issue. Upgrade the device to the latest Android version to resolve this issue permanently.

 

For devices running Android 16, temporarily install Okta Verify in the personal profile to bypass the Bluetooth permission limitation and complete the account addition process.

  1. Install Okta Verify in the personal profile of the Android device.
  2. Start the Import account flow within the work profile.
  3. Complete the process to import the account into the Okta Verify application inside the work profile.
  4. Remove the Okta Verify application from the personal profile.
