The following errors may be encountered when installing the AD Agent:
- AD Agent Install Error: Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime Download failed with error code 12029
- Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime installation failed with error code 2147754487: (no details available)
- Directories
- Active Directory Agent
Beginning with Okta AD Agent version 3.14, the AD agent installer uses MS Edge WebView2 instead of the embedded IE browser for authentication. If WebView2 is not detected during the installation, the installer will attempt to install the application.
- This error can be caused by security software or settings preventing the AD Agent from installing. Please verify that the installation is not being blocked.
- Windows or Edge needs to be updated.
- OS-related issues preventing Windows Updates from running successfully can also produce this error.
MS Edge WebView2 is required for AD Agent version from 3.14.0 until 3.17.0 only. If we need to install 3.18.0 or newer, MS Edge WebView2 is no longer required.
Ensure the Okta AD Agent installer file is being run as Administrator. If issues persist, Admins can manually install the appropriate Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime version download via the Microsoft Update Catalog.
Please review C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\EdgeUpdate\Log\ to see if MicrosoftEdgeUpdate.log is available. This may give clues, such as networking issues, that customers can look at with their internal teams.
If a manual installation of the Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime is successful, install the Okta AD Agent once more using elevated permissions.
