Overview

Okta Identity Engine introduces a different, more granular approach to user authentication. The sequence of a sign-in flow depends on the authentication assurance requirements set in policies. Okta Identity Engine requires that the authentication assurance specified in both the Global Session Policy and the authentication policies be satisfied before it allows the end user to access an app.

 

This article explains why the sign-in page is different in Okta Identity Engine (OIE).

Solution
  • If the Global Session Policy rule has the Establish the user session with set to A Password, the Sign In Widget prompts the user to introduce both username and password on the same screen.

  • If the Global Session Policy rule has Establish the user session with set to Any factor used to meet the Authentication Policy requirements, there will be a two-page sign-in. The Sign In Widget will ask only for the username on the first page.
