Solution

Notification emails for a new device sign-in are triggered when a new client is identified based on an end user's browser cookies or fingerprint. This appears in the System Log as the event Send user new device notification email.

A client can be considered new in one or more of the following scenarios:

•New browser type or version
•New operating system type or version
•New or updated app
•Unrecognized browser or operating system (appears as Unknown in the notification email)

If the sign-in flow requires MFA, a notification will be generated even if the multifactor challenge is not resolved. Due to the additional layer of security, the system logs will also show the user's authentication via MFA.
