Users are unable to receive Okta Verify push notifications on iOS even if the notification is enabled.

- iOS device
- Okta Classic Engine
In specific cases where end users transferred data from their old iPhone to their new iPhone, even though it appeared to install Okta Verify fresh, it must still carry some information over.
If push notifications are not received on the iOS device, follow these steps to diagnose and resolve the connection.
1. Pre-Check: Update the app
Before troubleshooting, ensure the latest version of Okta Verify is installed from the App Store. Outdated versions remain the primary cause of sync issues.
2. Run the Diagnostic tool
Okta Verify has a built-in tool to identify exactly where the communication is breaking down.
-
Open Okta Verify on the device.
-
Tap on the Account.
-
Scroll to the Troubleshooting section and tap Push Notification Diagnostics.
3. Understanding the results
The tool automatically scans four critical areas:
-
System notification settings: Checks if iOS permissions are blocking the app.
-
Push token: Verifies the device's unique "ID" with Okta’s servers.
-
Notification service: Checks the connection to Apple’s Push Notification service.
-
Device time: Confirms the clock is synced (crucial for security tokens).
