Slack Pronouns Attribute Not Available for SCIM Mapping with Okta
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine
Okta Integration Network
Overview
This article provides information about the current limitation of mapping Okta attributes to the pronouns field in Slack. Due to the pronouns attribute not being part of Slack's SCIM profile, it is not possible to manage user pronouns centrally within Okta and sync this information to Slack workspaces.

Applies To
  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Okta Identity Engine
  • Slack
Cause
The pronouns field is not available in the Okta schema when trying to edit the Slack profile because it is not currently part of Slack's SCIM profile.
Solution

Unfortunately, as of now, it is not possible to map the Okta attributes directly to the pronouns field in Slack. The reason is that the Pronouns attribute is not listed as a SCIM attribute in Slack's schema, so no values from Okta can be mapped to it.

For now, users will have to manage their pronouns separately in Slack, outside of Okta. keep an eye on Slack's SCIM documentation and update requests for any changes related to the Pronouns attribute. If Slack adds the Pronouns attribute to their SCIM profile in the future, it will be possible to map it from Okta using the standard attribute mapping process.
