Reveal User-Set Credentials in SWA Applications

Administration
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

This article provides instructions for an end-user to view or edit the credentials for a Secure Web Authentication (SWA) application. SWA provides Single Sign-On (SSO) for applications that do not support federated sign-in methods.

Applies To

  • Secure Web Authentication (SWA) Applications
  • Credentials

Solution

When an application is configured with the User sets username and password option, an end-user can manage the credentials from the End-User Dashboard.

  1. On the End-User Dashboard, locate the application tile.

  2. Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the tile.

  3. Select Edit to update the credentials or Reveal to view the password.

Username and Password for SWA application

NOTE: Okta administrators cannot view passwords that users set for SWA applications.

NOTE: If a user changes an application password in a browser where the Okta Browser Plugin is not installed or enabled, the plugin later prompts the user to update the password in Okta. This process ensures the stored password complies with the defined password policy.
