Upon the new Okta Office 365 push group mapping creation, Okta will create a new MS Office 365 group and set the new target O365 group's displayName and mailNickname based on the Okta group push source group name field value.
Hence, this Office 365 push group error is thrown by MS Graph API when the pushed Okta group's name contains special characters that violate the MS product limitation. For full details on the MS product limitation and a list of allowed characters as group names used for Okta/Office 365 group push mapping, please read the MS documentation.
Please contact MS Support directly if there are any additional questions related to the mailNickname allowed characters.
-
Change the name of the pushed group. In the Push Group tab, click on the group name in order to access the Okta group:
-
Once on the Okta group page, click the Actions button and choose the Edit option.
-
Remove the special characters from the group name. In this example, the group name is "Test: Office 365." The colon is a special character that must be removed.
-
Retry the group push by selecting Bulk Edit.
- Delete the existing one and recreate the push group.
