Is it Possible to Have Multiple Usernames Associated with One Okta Account for a SAML App
Single Sign-On
Okta Classic Engine
Overview

This article discusses whether it is possible to have multiple usernames associated with one Okta Account for a Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) App.

Applies To
  • Singe Sign On (SSO)
  • Application Username
  • Okta Classic Engine
Solution

It is not possible to assign multiple accounts to individual users for a single application, as this would compromise the authenticity of the authentication process. Single Sign-On (SSO) requires a one-to-one authentication relationship to function correctly. Having multiple accounts for a single user would hinder the purpose of SSO. As a result, it is not feasible to store multiple usernames and passwords.

However, for Secure Web Authentication (SWA) apps, it is possible to create multiple integrations and assign the user a different username for each app. The user can then access each authentication through a different app tile on the Okta dashboard.
