This article provides troubleshooting steps for the following error that may occur during inbound Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) user authentication:

Unable to Validate User due to Invalid Status

Cause

The error Unable to Validate User due to Invalid Status can arise when a user, initially set up for inbound SAML/Org2Org authentication, gets converted into an Okta-mastered user with a password.

Solution

To resolve the Unable to Validate User due to Invalid Status error, follow these steps:

  1. Delete the user account that is triggering the error.
  2. Recreate this user, this time as an inbound SAML user.

    OR

  3. The user can try logging into the destination organization using their username and password.
