This article describes how to re-assign a user as part of a group in an application.
- Group Assignment
NOTE: The steps mentioned below do not apply to the Okta Everyone group as it is a permanent group consisting of all users, and it is not possible to alter its membership or application membership. Attempting to use the Everyone group for application assignment will render the steps below inapplicable.
The following steps must be completed to effect the reassignment of a user:
- In the Okta Admin Console, click Applications > Applications.
- Click the application that needs the re-assignment performed.
- Click the Provisioning tab and select To App in the left pane.
- Please be sure that Deactivate Users is not enabled.
- Click the Assignments tab and locate the user.
- Select the Edit button (represented by a pencil) for that user assignment.
- Select Administrator (Overrides Group) and Save it.
- Click the X icon to un-assign the user from the application.
- Click Assign > To People to assign that specific user back to the application (it is unnecessary to choose application roles or licenses during this assignment).
- Click Convert Assignments once the user has been successfully reassigned.
- Select the user/users and click Convert Selected (or Convert All if all listed users need to be converted).
- Check the Assignments tab to ensure the user is back as part of the group assignment.
