This article describes how to map the employeeType attribute from AD to Okta.

Solution

Please follow the below video or steps: 


 
  1. Navigate to the Local Active Directory and ensure there is value in the employeeType attribute.
  2. Navigate to the Okta Admin Console.
  3. Navigate to Directory > Profile Editor > Directories > Click on Profile of the Active Directory in question.
  4. Click Add Attribute > Click on Refresh Attribute List.
  5. Search for employeeType > Select it and add it.
  6. Navigate to the Profile Editor page again, and click on Okta Profile to create a custom attribute.
  7. Click Add Attribute > string > Display name: Employee Type > Variable name: employeeType > Save.
  8. Navigate back to Directory > Profile Editor > Directories > Active Directory in question > Mappings > AD to Okta.
  9. Locate employeeType from the Okta User Profile side, then search for employeeType from the appuser side to map it > Save.
  10. Click on Apply Updates now.
  11. Next, run a Full import from Active Directory.
