Workflows
Okta Classic Engine
All Engines
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

Depending on the Okta Workflows Action or Function card being used, it may be possible to add/remove Input and Output fields or create extensible Input or Output fields on the card. This is especially useful in cases where a connection to an application is desired that has fields that need to be manually defined on the card.

Applies To

  • Okta Classic Engine
  • Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
  • Okta Workflows
  • Action and Function Cards

Solution

How are inputs and outputs exposed on an Okta Workflows card?

Expose optional input and output fields on an Okta Workflows card by selecting the desired fields in the card settings.

  1. Select the cog wheel icon in the bottom right corner of the card.
  2. Click Choose fields.
  3. Select the checkbox for each Input and Output field to expose on the card. NOTE: Required fields cannot be disabled.
  4. Select Save.

Create Extensible Inputs and Outputs to Meet Specific Use Case Requirements

Define extensible fields on a card by interacting with the greyed-out input or output sections labeled Click or drop here to create or Click or drag to create.

  1. Select the greyed-out Input or Output, enter the name of the field, and press Enter. The Input field name must match the name of the field receiving the input value. The Output field name must match the name of the field returning to the card.
  2. Select the data type icon data type icon to choose the appropriate data type for the field, as the data type defaults to Text.
  3. Enter or map the desired input value if the field is an Input field.
