Remove an Okta Active Directory Agent from the Admin Console

Overview

Reinstalling an Okta Active Directory (AD) Agent on the same server creates a duplicate, disconnected agent entry in the Admin Console. Deactivating and deleting the stale agent from the directory integration resolves this issue.

 

After reinstalling an Okta AD Agent, the Agents tab of the Directory integration displays duplicate agents, and one remains disconnected.

Cause

Uninstalling and later reinstalling the Okta AD Agent on the same server generates a duplicate entry for that server on the Agents tab of the directory integration.

Solution

How is a duplicate Okta Active Directory Agent removed?

 

Navigate to the directory integration in the Okta Admin Console, select the actions menu for the stale agent, deactivate it, then permanently delete it.

 

  1. Select Actions next to the stale agent entry and choose Deactivate agent.
