Overview

This document provides details on how to enable or disable Email as a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) option, and how to disable or enable Email for Authentication and Recovery, or just for Recovery.

Solution

Follow the steps or video below.


 

  1. Log in to the Okta Admin Console.
  2. Navigate to Security > Authenticators.
  3. Click Add authenticator to add Email to the list of eligible authenticator options. Alternatively, disable Email as an authenticator by clicking Actions > Delete.

  4. Choose whether the authenticator can be used specifically for Authentication and recovery or Recovery only.
