When trying to create a group with the same name in Okta the following error is generated:
We found some errors. Please review the form and make corrections.
An object with this field already exists in the current organization
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- Groups
- Groups name
Each group must have a unique name.
Admins cannot create multiple groups with the same name in Okta.
If multiple groups with the same name are displayed, these are coming from different sources such as Active Directory, Bamboo, etc. Our recommendation is to change the names of the groups so that when they are added as resources to the Admin roles, there will be no confusion.
Also, when searching in the resources tab under Security > Administrators, if there are multiple groups with the same name, please note that Okta will only display five groups (this is an expected behavior).
