Finding the Domain Controller that Communicated with Okta Active Directory Agent Most Recently
Directories
Overview

This article explains how to determine the Domain Controller to which an Okta Active Directory (AD) Agent last connected.

Applies To
  • Directories
  • Active Directory
  • Domain Controller
  • AD Agent
Solution

Follow the steps or video below:

  1. Open the Okta AD Agent logs located on the agent server at C:\Program Files(x86)\Okta\Okta AD Agent\logs.

  2. Open the most recently modified log file and scroll to the bottom. Click to place the cursor at the end of the file.
  3. Use Ctrl+F to search, changing the Direction to Up.

  4. Search for the string Connected to server to find the FQDN of the Domain Controller with which the Agent most recently communicated.

NOTE: The AD Agent will attempt to reach the same DC for all imports; however, it may connect to any DC in the network for any other action. Ensure the AD domain controller replication is optimally synced to avoid erratic behavior. Contact Microsoft Support or the AD specialist to review/optimize the AD replication health.
