What are the features of the Okta Browser Plugin?
Review the following list to understand the available features and capabilities of the Okta Browser Plugin.
- Automatically sign in to apps: The Okta Browser Plugin automatically inserts password credentials upon navigation to the sign-in page of an Okta-enabled Secure Web Authentication (SWA) app.
NOTE: Okta recommends enabling this option for all trusted SWA apps, as it is a per-app setting. - Automatically initiate an Okta sign-in event: A pop-up banner with a sign-in button appears upon direct navigation to an Okta-enabled app without an active Okta session. This allows authentication into the Okta account and the app without navigating to the Okta End-User Dashboard.
- Automatically fill in credentials on sign-in pages: The pop-up banner provides an option to auto-fill credentials when automatic app sign-in remains disabled and direct navigation occurs to the sign-in page of an Okta-enabled SWA app.
- Automatically insert passwords on password-update pages: The pop-up banner automatically inserts the current password on a password-update page of an Okta-enabled SWA app.
- Generate a strong password: The Okta Browser Plugin auto-generates a strong password that saves automatically to the Okta account when creating or changing passwords for SWA-based applications.
- Update passwords: The Okta Browser Plugin offers the option to update the Okta account with the new password when changing the password in an Okta-enabled SWA app.
- Quickly jump to Admin Console: The Admin Console launches from a link in My Apps after authentication into the Okta End-User Dashboard.
- Switch between multiple Okta accounts: A prompt appears to trust or reject subsequent Okta accounts upon first access. Over time, the Okta Browser Plugin icon generates an easily accessible list of Okta accounts.
- Prevent web browsers from saving sign-in credentials: The Okta Browser Plugin prevents web browsers from saving sign-in credentials for Okta and third-party apps accessed through the Okta End-User Dashboard.
- Create passwords upon sign-up with a new service: The Okta Browser Plugin creates passwords for apps during account creation. After adding the app to the Okta End-User Dashboard, the app settings panel allows modification of the sign-in URL.
NOTE: This is an Early Access feature. Contact Okta Support to enable this feature.
