Okta End-User Dashboard Notification Shows "You were assigned new apps" With Unexpected Date
Last Updated:
Overview
Okta End-User Dashboard notifications regarding new application assignments sometimes display a different date than the actual assignment date. This occurs because Okta consolidates notifications until the end-user views them, causing the notification to display the acknowledgment date rather than the assignment date. This is expected behavior.
Applies To
- Okta Identity Engine (OIE)
- Okta Classic Engine
- End-User Dashboard
- Notifications
Cause
Okta consolidates the "You were assigned new apps" notifications until the end-user views and clears them. The date on the notification reflects the date the end-user acknowledges the notification, rather than the exact date Okta assigned the application. Review the following example of a consolidated application assignment notification.
Solution
Why does the notification show the acknowledgment date?
This is expected behavior. Okta updates the date to reflect the end-user's acknowledgment of the consolidated notification. No further action is required.
