Understanding the Okta Rate Limit Dashboard

Overview
Okta provides the rate limit dashboard to show API usage and investigate rate limit issues. Access the dashboard from the Admin Console or from rate limit notifications and System Log events. Administrators can review endpoint utilization and the effective rate limit per minute for each endpoint.

How is the rate limit dashboard viewed?
These steps show how to open the rate limit dashboard from the Admin Console and from rate limit notifications.
- Access the Admin Console.
- Navigate to Reports > Rate Limits.
These options show where the rate limit dashboard link appears when Okta records a warning or violation.
- After Okta reaches a rate limit for an endpoint, open the rate limit email, then select View utilization history to open the rate limits dashboard and the System Log for that endpoint.
- Select Utilization history from the banner when Okta displays a rate limit message in the Admin Console to open the rate limits dashboard for that endpoint.
- Select syslog from the same banner to open the System Log.
- Open the System Log after Okta records a rate limit warning or violation event, then select View Utilization under Event info to open the rate limits dashboard.
This view helps administrators review organization-specific API endpoints and limits.
- Open the API tab to view a table of API endpoints.
- Review the Rate Limit column to see the effective rate limit per minute for each endpoint.
