Bonusly Migration Guide
Last Updated:
Overview
With the recent release of the new Bonusly app integration (built and maintained by Bonusly) in the Okta Integration Network (OIN) that supports SSO and SCIM provisioning functionality, Okta is officially ending support for the original Bonusly app integration on Dec 31, 2021.
The new Bonusly app integration is your one-stop shop to enable SSO and manage users for your Bonusly environment. The new app integration will receive future enhancements and will be maintained by Bonusly, so customers are encouraged to upgrade at their earliest opportunity.
Who will be impacted, and what is the impact?
If you use the original Bonusly app integration and currently have an active instance in your org, you will be impacted (Note! You might have changed the label of the app when you added it in your org):
After Dec 31, 2021, the original Bonusly app integration will no longer be supported by Okta. Instances of this app integration in your Okta environment will continue to function after the EOL date since we are not disabling them as part of the deprecation; however, Okta will no longer make any fixes or updates to these app instances after the end-of-support date.

Migration Steps
A brand new Bonusly application has been added to the Okta Integration Network to provide a better overall experience to Okta customers. This new application supports more Lifecycle Management features and takes advantage of the updated Bonusly UI for SCIM configuration.
To take advantage of the updates, add a new instance of Bonusly in your Okta org. If the old Bonusly application was added previously, follow the steps below to migrate from the old application to the new Bonusly application:
- Log in to the Okta org as an Admin.
-
Open the Admin Dashboard.
-
Click Add Application.
- Add a new instance of the Bonusly application.
-
Configure the application with the desired features (SWA, SAML, Provisioning).
a. SWA - under the Sign On tab, select SWA as the sign-on method, select the desired option for saving user credentials, and then click Save.
b. SAML - under the Sign On tab, select SAML as the sign-on method. Click on the View Setup Instructions and follow all the steps to configure SAML for the new Zscaler 2.0 app.
c. SCIM - Follow the steps outlined in the Bonusly SCIM Configuration Guide. -
After enabling SCIM Provisioning, go to the Import tab of the new Bonusly app instance. Click Import Now.
- After the users from Bonusly are downloaded, select the users that should be created or linked in Okta and then click on Confirm Assignments.
-
A pop-up will appear asking if you want to proceed with the assignment confirmation. Click Confirm.
- Open the old Bonusly application. Note! This is the previous Bonusly application you had before adding a new one in Step 4.
-
OPTIONAL: If previously used Provisioning for the Bonusly app
a. Go to the Provisioning tab.
b. On the SETTINGS section, click Integration.
c. Click Edit, uncheck Enable API Integration, then click Save.
- Now deactivate or delete the old Bonusly application and continue using the new Bonusly application added. Follow the steps below:
a. Deactivate the old Bonusly app - click the Active status drop-down menu under the Bonusly app label, then click Deactivate.
b. Delete the old Bonusly app - follow Step A above. After the app has been deactivated, click the Inactive status drop-down. The option to Activate or Delete the app will be given. Choose Delete. There will be a prompt to confirm the desire to delete the application. Click Delete Application.
Things To Remember
-
If using SAML as the sign-on mode for your old Bonusly application, you will need to set up SAML on your new Bonusly application in Okta (recommended) or maintain the old Bonusly application to ensure that the SAML functionality continues to work.
- If using the SWA sign-on mode for your old Bonusly application, the credentials for all users that will be assigned to the new Bonusly application need to be re-entered (depending on your SWA configuration).
- NOTE! If users need to retrieve their passwords, they can do so by following the steps below:
- On their Okta homepage, hover over the old Bonusly application icon and click on the gear icon:
-
On the See Password tab, click Reveal Password. Users are prompted to re-authenticate to see the credentials:
- Before deactivating/deleting your old Bonusly application instance, ensure all users who need to retrieve their passwords have done so to avoid re-setting their passwords via Bonusly.
- On their Okta homepage, hover over the old Bonusly application icon and click on the gear icon:
