The Atlassian Cloud integration API authentication flow fails with the following error visible in the Okta dashboard:

Solution

Follow these troubleshooting steps:

  • Confirm that the credentials used for the API connector are successfully tested on the application side.

  • Make sure the email address (used as a username for the API credentials), is the same as the email address (Atlassian account) that created the API token in Atlassian.

  • Ensure the Atlassian account also has the required admin permissions.

If the error remains the same, it is most likely caused by a recent update on the Atlassian side.

A new Atlassian Cloud application has been published in the Okta Integration Network (OIN) that supports both SSO and SCIM Provisioning. To fully take advantage of this application, an Atlassian Access subscription is required, which is why the API cannot authenticate. Please contact Atlassian for more details about this subscription.
