Alias and Client Token Values not Generated for an API Endpoint Workflow Exposed as Webhook

Workflows
Okta Classic Engine
Okta Identity Engine

Overview

When adding the "API Endpoint" event card to a workflow and selecting the Expose as Webhook option, the Alias and Client Token fields are blank, even after closing the API Endpoint Settings screen and reopening it via the </> icon at the bottom of the card.

Applies To

  • Workflows API Endpoint event card

Cause

Values for the Alias and Client Token fields are only created after adding the API Endpoint event card and saving the workflow. If the workflow was saved prior to adding the API Endpoint event card, it must be saved again after adding the card for the Alias and Client Token values to be generated

Solution

  1. Create a new workflow.
  2. Add an API Endpoint event card.
  3. Select the Expose as Webhook option in the API Endpoint Settings screen.
  4. Click the Close button.
  5. Save the workflow.
  6. Click the </> icon at the bottom of the API Endpoint card to open Settings; the Alias and Client Token should be populated with values.
