App assignment attempted for user XXXXXXXXXXX but user is in inactive status INACTIVE.

I am using Okta with Service Now.
When importing users from AD I have nine users which won't import and are stuck in the "exact" match.
One user doesn't occour in Service Now yet it says it has an exact match. Same goes for the other eight who are in the Service Now users.
Regardless if I pick exact match or new user I will be met with the error message : App assignment attempted for user XXXXXXXXXXX but user is in inactive status INACTIVE. The users who are present in Service Now are not marked as inactive yet active. I have tried changing to inactive in Service Now yet no luck still.

Thanks for posting in the Okta Community!

Do these users have existing Okta accounts that are currently deactivated in Okta? You will see that error message if you try to link an imported AD user to an existing deactivated Okta account.

To get around this you can either delete, or reactivate the existing Okta accounts which should then let you create new Okta accounts or link them with the existing accounts.

If this does not work for you I would suggest opening a support case with Okta Support so we can take a closer look at the error in your specific environment.

It seems like my previous findings combined with your information made the light at the end of the tunnel shine even brighter. Luckily not an oncoming freight train - succes!.

Thanks Taylor.
