In our organization, we have some applications under the user's homepage, that generates a random password when a period of time has passed.
However, when our users select for Okta to generate and save this random password, these applications do not take the generated password in their system. Thus keeping their original password and Okta keeping a different one.
This causes either users to lock their accounts or ask for their passwords to be reset on a consitent basis.
Can this feature be disabled? Is it at a top-level or can this be app dependent? I've haven't found much besides a KB on generating a random password and prevent the browser from the save password banner.
Thank you for reaching out to Okta Support! This behavior generally occurs when the application that the prompt is generated for has the Sign On setting set to "User sets Username and Password". Also, the having a group set under "Enable Okta toolbar for group" from Settings- Customization- Browser Plugin might also have a role for the behavior. For testing purposes only, you can change the lastly mentioned feature to be assigned to an empty group and see if the behavior changes. In case further assistance is required, we recommend opening a support ticket so that we can further assist.

We have some legacy applications that we setup using SWA and do have the team members manage the username and password. The app is currently set to have the end user manage the username and password. Are you saying if we manage the username and let them manage the password they should no longer receive the password recommendation when resetting?
