Receiving 404 error when attempting to sign into application
Published: Jul 11, 2017   -   Updated: Jul 14, 2017
Issue: Login or authentication attempts result in a 404 - Page Not Found error

Applies To:
  • SP-initiated Sign On
  • any process that performs the above, such as Android For Work device enrollment, thick client login, etc.

Cause: Service Provider is configured to use incorrect Okta application endpoint
  • in general, a 404 Error indicates that the browser (or an application's embedded browser) attempted to connect to a resource on a server that could not be found.

Resolution:
  • In the Okta Admin console, navigate to Applications and click the affected application
  • click the Sign On tab
  • click the View Setup Instructions button
  • find the entry that displays the Okta endpoint.
    • The name of this entry varies by application, but should look like the following: https://{YourTenant}.okta.com/app/{ApplicationName}/exk1qu4k9hF3a61Hple7/sso/saml
  • Log into the application's admin console as directed in the View Setup Instructions and ensure that the Okta endpoint listed above is correctly entered in the appropriate field
