Version numbers indicate the year and week of the year that releases are pushed to orgs. For example, release 2016.02 was pushed the second week of 2016. The week numbers follow the ISO Week Date convention.

Important Notice for AD Integrations Using Federated Profiles

If your Okta Active Directory (AD) integration uses Federated Profiles, you should update to the latest GA version of the Okta AD agent. Beginning April 21, 2016, Okta automatically migrated all orgs that use the Federated Profiles option to the Okta enhanced AD integration, which requires agent version 3.0.8 or higher. If your Okta AD agent is earlier than version 3.0.8, following the migration your organization may experience inconsistent behavior, including loss of groups and group memberships.

To identify orgs running Federated Profiles, see Determining Your AD Integration Type.

For download and installation instructions, see Installing and Configuring the Active Directory Agent.

Note: If you run multiple Okta AD agents, upgrade all agents on your domain servers to the same version. Running different versions of the AD agent can cause all of them to function at the level of your oldest agent.

What's New

Unless otherwise noted, these features are available for all organizations with release 2016.39.

  • Contextual user assistance is now available directly within the Okta app. This new delivery method simplifies access to the most relevant help content. Look forward to continual updates and improvements. Current content on the support site remains available.

    User-added image

  • You can share any of the key credentials for an app instance with another instance of the app. For more information, see Sharing Application Key Credentials. This is an Early Access (EA) feature; contact Okta Support to enable it.

  • Our Voice Call (EA) authentication option can now be used to reset end-user passwords. Users enter a generated security token received through a voice call to their mobile device or landline phone. For details, see Using Voice Call for Password Resets.

  • We are pleased to announce a new SuccessFactors Employee Central as Master provisioning integration. With SuccessFactors-driven IT provisioning, Okta can drive the worker life cycle of new-hire, update, termination, and rehire to downstream applications from events that originate in SuccessFactors Employee Central.

This is an EA feature; contact Okta Support to enable it. For more information, see SuccessFactors Employee Central Provisioning Guide.

  • We have improved the event detail display in our new System Log (EA). We now group event details into logical, expandable categories (Actor, Client, Event, Request, Target) in the System Log, as shown below:

Product Bug Fixes

The following issues are fixed:

  • OKTA-99367 – Provisioning a user to Dropbox Business sometimes failed if the user was already provisioned.
  • OKTA-99834 – After switching from WS-Federation auto configuration to manual configuration, existing Microsoft O365 federation was not retained.
  • OKTA-99992 – Microsoft O365 with the provisioning type Licenses/Roles Management Only enabled failed to push license changes from Okta to Microsoft O365.
  • OKTA-100525 – Importing a large number of users from Microsoft O365 into Okta failed under certain circumstances.
  • OKTA-101509H – Logging in to the Zoom app from Windows failed in orgs with both MFA and the New Okta Sign In Experience enabled.
  • OKTA-101912 – Proxy support for the On-Prem MFA agent was not fully functional during install.
  • OKTA-101961 – The parent group failed to show members in Google Apps nested groups after receiving an unknown group member type. This caused unexpected deprovisioning on a large scale.
