Okta Production Release 2016.19 began deployment on May 16. For the latest information on our release schedule, see Current Release Status.

Check the version number at the bottom of your Okta Administrator page to see your current version. Clicking the version number takes you directly to the folder containing the release notes.

Version numbers indicate the year and week of the year that releases are pushed to orgs. For example, release 2016.02 was pushed the second week of 2016. The week numbers follow the ISO Week Date convention. 

New Product Features​

Unless otherwise noted, these features are available for all preview organizations with this release.
  • The new Okta sign-in experience is now Generally Available (GA). The new Okta sign-in experience delivers a new look for end users and several new admin features, including the ability to add custom background images to your sign-in flows. To enable it for your org, go to Settings > Appearance > Sign-In Configuration. For more information, see New Okta Sign-In Experience

    Availability: This feature is available in release 2016.19 for new preview and production organizations.

  • Okta has enhanced the SMS option with the ability to customize the message received by end users. As with email templates, you can create a variable-enhanced SMS message to update forgotten passwords or unlock Okta accounts. For details on how to customize your SMS message, see Using the Okta Settings Page.

New Universal Directory Schema for Social Authentication

The Universal Directory (UD) schema for all social authentication providers has been updated. The mapping template for the new profile schema has also been updated.

Agent Update

The Java LDAP Agent version 5.3.4 is released for Early Access (EA) users. This release adds a diagnostic message for use by Okta engineering. To obtain this version, contact Okta Support. For agent version history, see Java LDAP Agent Version History.

Bug Fixes

Bug numbers ending with an H are hotfixes. Hotfixes are generally deployed after the initial release.

Product Bug Fixes

The following issues are fixed:

  • OKTA-79857 – The Transform username value in Authentication Settings for Identity Providers had validation issues.
  • OKTA-83497 – Invitations for the Yammer app were sent in error.
  • OKTA-86787 – The new Okta sign-in experience prevented end users from unlocking their Okta accounts using their email address.
  • OKTA-86944 – Installation of apps on iOS mobile devices sometimes failed.
  • OKTA-87047 – Profile mappings were not pushed to Office 365 when the Default provisioning type was selected in an app instance.
  • OKTA-87152 – In orgs with the new Okta sign-in experience enabled, save password banners continued to display even though the browser plugin was configured to block them.
  • OKTA-88251 – In some cases, the immutableID mapping was removed after a UD profile migration.
  • OKTA-88263 – The tooltip for the OMM Passcode Policy option was unclear. 
  • OKTA-88819 – In Active Directory (AD), enabling the group password policy feature caused password policies to fail during provisioning.
  • OKTA-88923 – The policy rules dropdown menu incorrectly displayed Anywhere for user location instead of On or Off network.
  • OKTA-88939 – Admins could not import users from AD under certain circumstances.
  • OKTA-88973 – Box provisioning jobs did not always complete successfully.
  • OKTA-89640H – In some orgs with the new Okta sign-in experience enabled, end users received an HTTP 500 error when accessing apps from their Okta home page.
  • OKTA-89941H – The Tableau app did not appear for end users after it was assigned.

Platform Bug Fixes

The following issues are fixed:
  • OKTA-79857 – The IdP usernameTemplate in Okta Expression Language (EL) expressions had validation issues.
  • OKTA-86512 – Some calls to /api/v1/users/{id}/factors returned a SIGN_ON_DENIED error.
  • OKTA-88417 – For some older branded login pages, the Last Login value in the Usage Report wasn’t updated for logins sent via the API.
