New Features

  • Okta lifecycle functionality has been expanded. There is a new user state, Suspended. Suspended users cannot log in to Okta, and the Okta login is blocked for apps that support SAML. App and group memberships are maintained for suspended users and are reinstated if the user is subsequently unsuspended.

For information on suspending and unsuspending users from the UI, see Using the Okta People Page. For information on API support for these lifecycle states, see Suspend User in the Okta Users API documentation.

Note: This is an Early Access (EA) feature; contact Okta Support to enable it.

  • Okta is pleased to announce the General Availability (GA) of an enhancement to our Profile Editor. The navigation through profiles is now organized by page to allow an unlimited number of profiles in the list. Buttons open new windows to edit a profile or mappings. For more information, see About Universal Directory.

  • We have updated our API page to include a new security option. From the Trusted Origins tab you can grant access to trusted websites through the Okta API. For details, see Using the Okta Security Page

Note: This is an EA feature; contact Okta Support to enable it.

  • We'd like to announce the GA of our session lifetime feature. You can now use the Okta API to control the maximum idle time before an authentication prompt is triggered. For information on API support for session lifetime, see Signon Session Object.
  • The System Log now displays rate limit alerts. For more information on the system log, see Using the Okta Reports Page.

iOS Support

On March 1, 2016, Okta Mobile will discontinue support for iOS 7.x. After that date, Okta Customer Support will no longer investigate issues related to iOS 7. For more details see Okta Mobile and Okta Verify Supported Versions. To learn about Okta’s version support information, see our new Supported Configurations page.

Okta Developer Platform Update

Documentation for the Okta Developer Platform is available at http://developer.okta.com.

Okta honors the Accept-Encoding request header for Okta Users API. If your API client sends requests to this resource and includes Accept-Encoding, Okta responses are compressed.

Incremental Features Summary

The following table summarizes features that are enabled incrementally. Links in the Feature column point to additional documentation for that feature, if available. After the feature is fully released, it is no longer tracked in this table. For release history of all features, see Features by Release.

Agent Update

We are pleased to announce the Early Access (EA) release of the Okta Java LDAP Agent version 5.3.2. This version includes an option that lets admins disable SSL certificate pinning, which may be necessary to allow new installations to complete in environments where SSL pinning prevents communication with the Okta server. For more information, see Installing and Configuring the LDAP Agent. For version history, see Java LDAP Agent Version History.

Toolkit Updates

Okta announces the release of the Okta Confluence Authenticator version 1.0.13. This update fixes an issue where logins from Okta Mobile for Android to Confluence on-prem instances failed. As both the Confluence Authenticator and the JIRA Authenticator are built on the Okta SAML Toolkit for Java, all three components are incremented to version 1.0.13 to maintain version consistency. For more details on these integrations, see Using the Confluence On Premises SAML App and Using the JIRA On-Premises SAML App. For toolkit version history, see Current Confluence Jar Version History.

We strongly recommend that customers download and upgrade the latest SAML toolkit and the necessary Jira or Confluence authenticators. You can access all of these tools from the Okta Downloads page (from the Dashboard select  Settings > Downloads).
