Provisioning apps for users fail with Access Denied or Insufficient Permissions
Published: Jan 10, 2015   -   Updated: Jun 13, 2017

Issue: Provisioning apps for users fail with Access Denied or Insufficient Permissions.

Applies to: Provisioning

Cause: The API Token acquired from the service provider has expired, or the API credentials have been changed

Resolution:  Re-authenticatie the API credentials by performing the following steps:

  • In Okta Admin console, navigate to Applications and click the affected application
  • Click the Provisioning tab
  • Click Edit, then click Test API Credentials
  • if you do not receive a message indicating that the credentials were verified successfully:
    • ensure that the username and password are correct
    • ensure that the account has appropriate administrator access (i.e., that an Office365 Global Administrator account is being used)
